PTA's letter to parents for Teachers' Day

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Warm greetings from the Nanyang Primary School Parent-Teacher Association (NYPS-PTA)!

Teachers' Day celebrations – appeal for monetary donations

We had sent out our appeal via SNAC two weeks ago, and we are very grateful that many of you signed up to volunteer or to donate desserts. Thank you very much!

However, we received feedback that some parents did not know that we were also looking for monetary contributions.

The NYPS-PTA organises the Teachers' Day celebration lunch every year. This year, it is on Wednesday 31 August 2016 at 2pm in the school hall. We are expecting to host around 280 teachers, staff, retired teachers and coaches. The Teachers' Day Sub-Committee has planned a delicious nonya buffet and an interesting and practical door gift. The theme this year is retro, so there will be other activities and small touches to celebrate our hardworking and dedicated teachers.

We are appealing for you to give a monetary donation as we are still short of the funds needed for the event.

Please make your cheque payable to Nanyang Primary School Parent-Teacher Association. On the back of the cheque, please indicate "Teachers' Day Celebration", as well as your child's name, class, and your contact number. Please place the cheque in the PTA letterbox in the General Office as soon as possible.

As you know from the NYPS-PTA financial statements we send out every year prior to the Annual General Meeting in April, we spend a quarter of our income on staff welfare, the bulk of it on the Teachers' Day lunch. About 60% of our income goes towards organizing activities for the students: P1 Orientation, Chinese New Year goodies tasting, Floral Harmony, Mid-Autumn festival and Children's Day etc.

Any extra funds we receive would go towards organising these activities. Please email any questions to events@nypspta.com.

We thank you in advance for your generous support!

Yours sincerely,

NYPS-PTA Executive Committee 2015-7
